Awarding Bodies
The following qualifications are both nationally and internationally recognised, and represent the most respected names in professional education at the global level.
They reflect the requirements of business, industry and higher education.
They can be used for:
- Professional development for executives and younger professionals.
- Applications to companies in the public and private sector.
- Applications to higher education institutions and professional bodies.
FETAC
The Further Education & Training Awards Council of Ireland (FETAC) is the national awarding body for all further education and training in Ireland.
FETAC Awards:
- Are nationally and internationally recognized
- Are quality assured and form part of the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Offer a progression to employment and/or further and higher education and training in 2 ways:
- Any candidate with a full NCVA FETAC Award can apply for any University undergraduate course in Ireland where they will be considered along with all other applicants (mainly from Leaving Certificate)
- The Higher Education links Scheme – where specific FETAC level 5 NCVA courses are linked with University programmes and a number of places are reserved for FETAC applicants.

LCCI & EDI
The London Chamber of Commerce was originally established in 1881. In December 2002, LCCI became part of Education Development International (EDI), one of the world’s leading providers of vocational qualifications and online assessment solutions through its GOAL project. LCCI is the leading awards body in many regions, including the Far East. See www.lccieb.com.
OCR
The Oxford Cambridge RSA (OCR) was formed in 1998 from the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and RSA, which means that OCR offers an extremely broad range of qualifications, with the integrity, quality and assurances that you would expect from an organisation with such a respected heritage. Recent research commissioned by the Association of Colleges identified OCR as the most reliable of all Awarding Bodies. See www.ocr.org.uk.
ECDL
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the world’s most successful IT skills certification programme. Almost three million people are participating in the programme today in over 60 countries worldwide.
Outside of Europe the programme is known as the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), attesting to its phenomenal world-wide recognition and growth.

ACELS
The Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS) was established in 1969 under the auspices of the Irish Department of Education & Science to control standards in EFL schools and organisations through an inspection/recognition scheme. ACELS administers the scheme which leads to School Recognition by the Department of Education & Science. DBL College is officially recognised by the Department of Education & Science. See www.acels.ie
