DBL's Dublin College Nursing Studies course is a 2-year FETAC level 5 programme in which candidates will develop the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in the healthcare sector. This course also gives students the opportunity to progress to Irish University level education in Nursing.
The course can be divided into 3 main areas:
- Exploring specific Nursing & Healthcare topics (Introduction to Nursing, Anatomy & Physiology, Human Growth & Development).
- Enhancing Human Resource & practical skills needed in the Healthcare Profession (Communications, Safety & Health at Work, Word Processing).
- Improving your personal skills and knowledge for the workplace (Personal Effectiveness in the Workplace, English as a Second Language, Work Placement)
Knowledge and skills developed through this course:
- Management skills: Working successfully with people from different cultures and backgrounds, communicating in an effective way, maintaining a repsectful and cooperative environment.
- Healthcare & Nursing Skills: Detailed knowledge & skills needed to work the healthcare sector; from understanding of human anatomy to the essential theory and knowledge needed to become a nurse.
- Workplace Skills: Effective use of the PC, organisational and timing skills, practical and effective communications.
- Human Resource Skills: Develop your own personal and practical skills needed for operating in a professional working environment.
